পানির অভাবে ছটফট করে মারা যাচ্ছে অসংখ্য প্রাণী (ভিডিও)
আন্তর্জাতিক ডেস্ক-আফ্রিকা মহাদেশের দক্ষিণাংশে অবস্থিত স্থলবেষ্টিত দেশ বতসোয়ানা থেকে বিখ্যাত আলোকচিত্রী মার্টিন হার্ভে কিছু ভিডিও ধারণ করেছেন। সেখানে তিনি কিছু ছবিও তুলেছেন। পরে সামাজিক যোগাযোগের মাধ্যম ফেসবুকে সেই ভিডিও ও ছবি প্রকাশ করেছেন তিনি।সেসব দেখে বহু মানুষ প্রতিক্রিয়া জানিয়েছেন। গাছ না থাকার ফলে পরিবেশ কী ধরনের হুমকির মুখে পড়তে পারে, সেটা উঠে এসেছে ছবি আর ভিডিওতে। হাড় হিম করা ভিডিওতে দেখা গেছে, প্রাণীদের অতিকষ্টে শেষ পরিণতি।
ভিডিওতে আরো দেখা গেছে, পানির অভাবে আফ্রিকার প্রাণ-প্রকৃতি কীভাবে, কতটা নির্মমভাবে দমবন্ধ হয়ে শেষ হয়ে যাচ্ছে।হার্ভে জানিয়েছেন, বতসোয়ানার লেক নগামি থেকে ওই ভিডিও ধারণ করেছেন। বিশেষজ্ঞরা মনে করছেন, তাপমাত্রা বেড়ে যাওয়া এবং অনাবৃষ্টির কারণে নগামিতে পানির স্তর নিচে নেমে গেছে।
ফলে সেখানে অসংখ্য প্রাণী কাদায় আটকে যাচ্ছে। তারপর একপর্যায়ে মারা যাচ্ছে। অথচ সেখানে শকুনরা ঘোরাঘুরি করছে স্বাচ্ছন্দ্যে। বিশেষজ্ঞদের হতাশার জায়গা হলো, এরকম পরিস্থিতি চলতে থাকলে সেখানে শকুন ছাড়া আর কোনো প্রাণীই বেঁচে থাকতে পারবে না।
Lake Ngami in Botswana is drying up and hundreds cows and horses and numerous hippo are dying stranded in the mud.Relying on an outflow from the Okavango Delta, the recent drought in Southern Africa has meant that no water has flown in for several years and it is now in its final weeks of life.Fishermen are taking advantage of the drying up lake by catching the last of the remaining fish. The tragedy is mind numbing in its extent of animal suffering.It would be incorrect to say that this is in any way related to climate change as this lake has dried out in the past. Africa is notorious for its droughts but perhaps it is a forewarning of what is to come.
